Major Ramaswamy Parameswaran was a brave and dedicated officer of the Indian Army who was posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra for his extraordinary courage and leadership during the peacekeeping operations in Sri Lanka under Operation Pawan in 1987. Serving in the Mahar Regiment, he displayed unmatched valor when his column was ambushed by militants. Despite being shot, he continued to lead his men and successfully neutralized the enemy forces.

We will also highlight how, in his final moments, Major Parameswaran snatched a rifle from an enemy soldier, shot him down, and continued fighting until his last breath. His heroism, selflessness, and leadership continue to inspire generations of soldiers and citizens alike, symbolizing the spirit of ultimate sacrifice for the nation.
